WELCOME to teen driving!
There is no doubt that your teenager is eagerly looking forward to turning sixteen, and earning the privileges that come with being a legally licensed driver in the state of Illinois. As teachers and parents, we have the serious responsibility to provide them with the opportunities they need to learn how to operate a motor vehicle. Although statistics on teen-driving deaths has considerably decreased over the past few years, the numbers related to automobile crashes/collisions among first time drivers is still alarming. At Dunlap High School, in a team effort with the parents of our teen-drivers, it is our job as a department to educate your son or daughter, and offer them the experiences they need to become safe and responsible drivers. Please help us in this challenge by being a positive role model for your student-driver, and by providing him/her with much needed (and now required) driving practice outside of school hours. Together, we can make a powerful team that provides future roadways users with a rewarding experience that ultimately leads to the privilege of earning their driver’s license, as well as attitudes, values, and expectations that will last their entire driving lifetimes.
On behalf of the Driver's Education teachers at DHS, we sincerely look forward to having your son or daughter in our class, and teaching them the Illinois Rules of the Road! Please read through the material contained within the tabs of this website. We have put this information together to give parents and guardians a better understanding of the state-approved D.E. program that is offered here at Dunlap High School. |
